Booking
How to book?
- Choose your vehicle on our website, then complete the pre-booking form.
- We will contact you promptly via WhatsApp to finalize the booking details and assign you a vehicle.
What documents do I need to provide to book?
- Your driver's license and passport are required for all reservations, as well as round-trip flight tickets.
- For Mexican residents, a driver's license and INE card are required..
Do I need an international driver's license?
No matter your nationality, an international driver's license is not mandatory. For more information, please visit the official website of your general consulate in Mexico.
What is the minimum age to book?
- The minimum age is 21, or 25 for certain vehicle models. The driver's license must have been valid for at least 2 years.
- * Rental is possible for young drivers with an additional fee. Contact us for more information.
What is the minimum number of days I can book?
We rent for a minimum of five days. The exception is for pick-up and drop-off in Cancun, where we can rent for four or three days, subject to availability.
In what language is the rental agreement written?
All rental agreements are written in Spanish, according to Mexican law. Don't worry, one of our advisors will translate it for you if needed.
Can I modify or cancel my reservation?
Yes, contact us as soon as possible. Modifications depend on availability. Cancellation conditions are specified in our
Terms & Conditions.
Insurance & Payments
What insurance is included?
- Third-party liability (RC) and medical assistance are included.
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) and Theft Protection (TP) with a 10% deductible on the value of the vehicle are also included.
- We recommend you subscribe to our "24/7 Police Assistance Service" for complete peace of mind during checks with local authorities.
What is the security deposit amount?
The security deposit is between $3,000 Pesos and $7,000 Pesos, depending on the vehicle category. The deposit is blocked upon vehicle delivery and will be released upon return after the vehicle has been checked.
Do I need to pay for my reservation in advance?
The full payment for the rental is made in person when you sign the contract and we hand over the vehicle keys.
What payment methods do you accept?
- We accept payments in cash or by bank card (Debit/Credit). Bank card numbers are not stored on our website. A 5% bank fee is added for all card payments.
- The rates are set in Mexican Pesos, but we can accept foreign currencies based on the daily exchange rate on the day of payment.
Vehicle Use
Is mileage unlimited?
Yes, mileage is unlimited in the states of Quintana Roo, Yucatán, and Campeche so you can discover all the magnificent places these regions have to offer.
Is there a spare tire in the vehicle?
All our vehicles are equipped with a spare tire and the necessary tools to change a tire.
Can I drive with a photocopy of my license, or must I have my physical license?
A photocopy is not an official document, and a police officer has the right to ask for an official one. You must have your physical driver's license with you to avoid a fine or complications.
Are your license plates local?
Yes, all our vehicles have license plates local.
Additional drivers
The 2nd driver is free (other additional drivers are possible for a small fee per extra driver).
Can I take my pet in the vehicle?
At Street Car Solution, pets are our friends. We do, of course, ask that you take good care of the vehicle.
What should I do in case of a breakdown, accident, or fine?
- Contact us immediately—24/7. We will assist you with roadside help, reports and guidance.
- Sign up for the "24/7 Police Assistance" service, which connects you directly with our 24/7 team for direct support during complex checks with law enforcement.
Ferry, Borders & Restricted Areas
Parking & ferry
All ferry ports in Chiquila, Cancun, and Playa del Carmen have secure parking lots. Parking fees apply.
Cozumel: Can I take the ferry with the vehicle ?
Yes, you can go to Cozumel with the vehicle on the ferry. Fares may vary depending on the company.
Holbox: Can I go to Holbox Island with the vehicle?
- There is no vehicle ferry, so you must park your vehicle in Chiquila in one of the parking lots near the ferry before boarding. The fee is $100 Pesos per day.
- Important: Keep your key with you!
Chiapas: can I drive to Palenque?
Yes, but you absolutely must notify us, and a surcharge will apply. Contact us for more information.
Can I cross the Mexican border and go to Belize?
No, it is forbidden to leave Mexican territory with the vehicle, and the insurance will not cover you.
Punta Allen / Sian Ka'an: can I drive there?
No—off-road tracks in these areas are excluded from insurance coverage; damage or accidents are not covered.
Safety, Roads & Climate
Is Mexico safe for travelers?
- Yes, absolutely!
- The Yucatán Peninsula welcomes millions of tourists every year, not to mention the number of Americans, Canadians, and Europeans who come to live here. Mexicans are very welcoming.
Can I drive at night?
Yes, of coure. Many main roads are lit. Always adapt your speed and stay alert.
Is vehicle theft common?
To this day, we have not experienced a single vehicle theft.
Are child seats mandatory?
Mexican law states that a car seat is mandatory for minors under twelve years old. In reality, there is a lot of leniency for Mexicans, but on the other hand, it is highly recommended for tourists to use a car seat with a child under four years old.
What are the road conditions like?
Major highways are in good condition. Some roads or streets can be rough. Watch out for potholes and speed bumps (topes)!
What’s the climate like in Quintana Roo / Yucatán?
- Beautiful, hot, and humid most of the time. The rainy season occurs more or less between the months of August and October. The period between November and February is milder, then the intense heat returns quite quickly until August.
- Tropical rains fall heavily for a few minutes, then the sun comes back out and dries the roads quite quickly as well. It is rare to have several hours of rain in a row, but it can happen occasionally.
Delivery & Return
How can I be sure I will have a vehicle upon my arrival?
Once you receive the booking confirmation message from one of our advisors, you can be sure that your vehicle will be handed over to you upon your arrival.
Where can I pick up and return the vehicle?
At the airport, a hotel, or a point agreed upon with you in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Please indicate your flight/location on the reservation for a smooth handover.
How long does it take to pick up and return the vehicle?
- The vehicle handover process takes about 20 minutes. It includes signing the contract, making the payment, and checking the vehicle's condition.
- The vehicle return takes about 10 minutes if everything is in order.
Late return: how does it work?
Notify us as soon as possible. A 1-hour grace period may apply depending on availability; after that, additional daily fees will be charged.
Fuel policy
Fuel received = Fuel upon return. If the fuel level is lower, an additional fee for fuel and service will apply.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
- We understand that flight delays happen. If your return flight is delayed or canceled, please contact us as soon as possible to let us know.
- In case of a prolonged delay, we can adjust the return time, subject to availability. An additional fee may apply.
- In case of flight cancellation, we can adjust your reservation date, subject to availability. Additional daily fees will be charged according to the current rates.
- Communication is key to avoid any unexpected charges.
Can I return the vehicle before the agreed date?
- Yes, you can return the vehicle earlier. No refund will be issued for unused days of the contract, except for serious reasons.
